Disney Face Masks

I have had my cricut for two years now. During the pandemic, I really had a lot more time to play around with it and design things. One of the things that I created were Christmas Disney Masks. I created them for my family. It was a lot of fun coming up with designs for the face masks. I created both adult and children face masks.

One design was Star Wars. I created a Darth Vader mask with antlers.

The other design was Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. I created the silhouette for Mickey Mouse. For Minnie Mouse, I added a bow. Then I added some antlers and a red nose. These were fun to make and it was a challenge for me since, I haven’t used multiple colors and ironed them on.

The third design was Mickey Mouse silhouette with the castle in the middle. I also created snowflakes for the ears. This was my favorite because I am able to use these for other designs throughout the year.

My family really were very excited for these masks and it came as a surprise to them.

The cricut is a great program and machine to create your own ideas. I can’t wait to share other ideas with you and what I designed.

Happy DIY!

Valentine’s Day Coding For Students

Want your child try something new? Want your child to try coding?

A little back story. I am a 1st grader teacher and I have to be honest. I was never into coding or computer science. My principal asked if I want to learn computer science and that’s where my story in computer science begins. My love for computer science has grown the past 4 years. My passion for computer science and basic coding has sparked a great passion in me. I try to integrate computer science in all of my subject areas. I have started with ELA and math. In my classroom, we use both plugged and unplugged activities. My students love to work on these coding activities that I have for them. This school year, I decided to have the students work on coding on google slides. I took my unplugged coding and put them into slides.

I created coding mats for Valentine’s Day! These mats are Valentine’s Day themed. One is to collect the conversation hearts. Another one is to collect all the chocolates to the heart box. These are differentiated for all different levels.

I also have for doing a retelling coding. I created a mat for the story There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Rose. My students love these books and I use coding for them all. It’s a great way for them to retell the story and code at the same time. My students have an answer sheet were they write the code and then the retell. This incorporates both computer science and literacy.

All my coding mats have an answer sheet where the students write the code and they can run their program with another student. They are able to test their program even at home with their families. It is nice to see what my students are able to do. This year I have a lot more coding activities for my students and I want to make it fun.

Teachers Pay Teachers

I am an educator now for 7 years. It has been my passion for years. Ever since I was little, I wanted to be a teacher. My fifth grade teacher inspired me to become a teacher. The best part is that I work with her now in my elementary school. It is the best feeling helping my students achieve greatness. I have seen many students make so much progress and grow as learns. I push my students to grow and challenge themselves to be better.

This past school year has been one for the books. I am teaching students through various events that have happened in the world as well as their own personal events because of the pandemic. As teachers, we have to find our own resources and use our own funds. It is hard because we want the best for our students. We use as much funds as possible for our students to be successful. There are many different kinds of websites that help teachers get resources for classrooms. One website is teacherspayteachers.com This website helps teachers get teacher made resources that have help them and their students. Teachers pay teachers has created a class fund listing where teachers can get funds to purchase resources that they need for their classroom. This is the best way to help a teacher and their classroom. This year, I am using all the resources that I can in order to help my students. I created a class fund on teacherspayteachers. Here is my link: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/ClassFund/Monica-Kucic-35131?utm_campaign=ClassFund%20Page .

If you find it in your heart to donate even a small amount that would help my students greatly. Thank you again!

2021

I haven’t blogged in a long time and it is time to get back. My life has been taken over by little people who I love so so much. My children are my world. I’m also a full time special education teacher whose world has been flipped inside out because of the pandemic. This new year, I want to make a change. I know so many people say that but this is the year that I will better myself and grow as a mother, wife, and teacher.

The pandemic has taught me to focus on all the things that I have and grow from there. I am so grateful for what I have and am able to do. My students are my world that I see changing before me. They have been through so much and they are just fabulous. They have shown me that life is about the now and not I need to get to that now. I learned a lot as an educator through the pandemic and continue to learn and grow. Changing with the times is hard because we are stuck in our ways and that is one thing that the pandemic taught me. You need to change with the times and see where you can go from there. We need to be able to grow and learn from what we have and make ourselves better.

2021 is the year that I will work on me and becoming a better wife, mother and teacher. I will be blogging a lot more and sharing my experiences from these past few years. I can’t wait to see what 2021 will teach me and how I will grow.
